I had not watched the episode of ST: Voyager The Year of Hell in a while, (it is actually two parts), and I cannot believe how the starship Voyager and crew for that matter, was destroyed throughout the episode.
The ship was left with a skeleton crew ,no supplies and little hope. In the end, however, all time is restored and it is as if it all never happened. It would be nice to correct damage caused in the past and put things in a certain order, but that is the point of the episode: no matter how hard you try, it is impossible to restore the past exactly the way you would like so it is better to consider what you do today, make the best possible decisions and try to come to terms with past events.
I never get tired of watching the exploits of the SG1 team of Col. O´Neill , Major Carter, Teal´C, and Dr. Jackson.
I would not mind travelling through the gate no matter who I meet..
This year the summer begins at 21:24 pacific time in the Northern Hemisphere.
Several years ago, I had the great privilege to climb Chichen Itza and observe the beautiful jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula from atop the amazing pyramid. Climbing up was the easy part, the hard part was descending because the stairs are so steep, but do not get me wrong, it was worth it.
Happy Summer Solstice!!!
My favorite star cluster is the Pleiades or also known as the Seven Sisters; a name given by the ancient Greeks.
From Wiki: The Pleiades are a prominent sight in winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and have been known since antiquity to cultures all around the world, including the Celts, Māori, Aboriginal Australians, the Persians, the Arabs (who called them Thurayya), the Chinese (who called them 昴 mǎo), the Japanese, the Maya, the Aztec, the Sioux and the Cherokee. In Hinduism, the Pleiades are known as Krittika and are associated with the war-god Kartikeya. They are also mentioned three times in the Bible.
I see the cluster the best during the winter months, November through January; and even though the air is brisk, I love to use my binoculars to view them almost every evening. I like to muse that ancient people viewed the same stars I view, and I wonder what other things they thought about them as I have more science on my side.
Either way, I miss the Sisters in the summer and enjoy them in the winter.
The overall message of what you believe, in the movie Wonder Woman, is wonderful and welcome. I love the innocence of the character and how she wants to protect those who cannot defend themselves, she learns that not only she can choose love but people can choose as well.
It’s about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world. Diana Prince.
We may receive the best training and lessons from home ( or not) and yet, going into the world and learning by experience can be the best way to understand our true purpose.
I used to want to save the world, to end war and bring peace to mankind. But then I glimpsed the darkness that lives within their light. I learnt that inside every one of them there will always be both. The choice each must make for themselves – something no hero will ever defeat. And now I know… that only love can truly save the world. So now I stay, I fight, and I give – for the world I know can be. This is my mission now, for ever. Diana Prince.
I enjoy and find beauty in all art, from the grand masters to the undiscovered talents that exist in this world. Science fiction art can be dark or colorful, depict an uncertain future or the hope for something brighter, or it can be for the sole purpose of creating. Either way, I enjoy discovering new pieces and appreciating quality and design.
Some paintings can help me use my imagination to travel in my mind to other countries, worlds, galaxies, and hope that what is natural will abide; without judgement.
Before we go off gallivanting across the galaxy, we as humans, need to learn to live in peace.
I hope that can be achieved one day soon.
Saving Hope is a supernatural medical drama, I never thought I would see the words supernatural and medicine in the same sentence, but this show manages to pull it off because of the very handsome and talented Michael Shanks and for me the characters of Maggie Lin and Sydney Katz. It is more like a soap opera but these three persons have kept me interested in the show. I really loved Michael Shanks in StargateSG1, but that will be another post.
I have to add, I love the shows and movies that Canada has been making!
